A public hearing was opened at 6:01 p.m. on Fire Prevention & Building Code.   No one spoke for or against the law, therefore the public hearing was closed at 6:10 pm with a motion made by Benjamin, Seconded by Forkey, Carried

The local law #2 for fire prevention and Building has a clause for inter-municipal participation if needed, an agreement to be drawn up by attorney for the town of  Maine/Nanticoke and to enlist other towns if possible.

 

Local Laws for 2006 is 2.

 

Ellis:  stated he disliked the state demanding how we do or make laws.

 

Motion by Whittaker, Seconded by Loveless, carried

We do hereby accept the resolution to adopt Local Law #2 for the year 2006 providing for the administration and enforcement of the NYS Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code.   Vote:  Whittaker, aye

Loveless, aye   Forkey, aye   Benjamin, aye  Ellis, aye

 

Insurance:   Sprague is working on a quote.  The board asked about getting quotes from Tri Town Agency & Frost Klossner Agency.

 

The offices of Pearis, Kline & Barber are merging with the offices of Coughlin & Gerhart.

 

On the Grade All they are recommending sealed bids. –upset price $4-5,000.00  Bids to be in by Feb. 19th, 2007 and to be opened at the Feb. 20, 2007 meeting.

 

A discussion was held on the 10 hour work days?  The union contract for the 10 hour work days will be checked.   Forkey wanted proof of the savings of money for the town on the 10 hr. 4-day week or an 8 hr. 5 day work week.  He felt it was only a way to get off and have a long weekend.  They asked to check out any litigations with the attorney, can they force the highway to work an 8 hr day 5 day week with no problems?

 

 

 

Organizational meeting to be held January 16th, 2007 at 7 p.m.

 

Motion by Whittaker, Seconded by Benjamin, Carried

We do hereby authorize the transfer of funds to the designated accounts as listed and authorizing the payment of the bills as audited.  Vote:  Whittaker, aye  Loveless, aye,  Forkey, aye  Benjamin, aye   Ellis, aye

 

Charges for the Building Codes for Permits:

Wood stoves, Misc. Inspection--$5.00?  The fees will be discussed further at the January meeting.
